We're excited to announce that our Investment Committee just got even stronger with the addition of two new members, Tara and Tom joining in personal capacities. With their extensive experience and knowledge, they will help provide even more insight and contribution to our Investment Committee . Here are the details:
Please join us in welcoming Tara Gillespie and Tom Farrell to our investment committee! Both of them bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the group, and we're thrilled to have them on board.
Tara has worked in the financial industry for over a decade and is now Head of Global Assets at the investment consultant Redington. Positive impact and its integration into institutional and retail investment portfolios is both central to her day job advising wealth managers, charities, and pension funds as well as a personal passion.
“I am really excited to be joining The Big Exchange Investment Committee, as the organisation continues to disrupt the financial system, bringing high quality positive impact investments to savers. Investing for impact will be an essential part of the transition to a sustainable global economy and The Big Exchange provides easy access to these opportunities for people in the UK.”
Tom has also been in the financial industry for over a decade and is partner in Lane, Clark & Peacock (LCP’s) investment department, which means he spends his day to day providing advice to a range of large institutional investors such as pension funds and sovereign wealth funds.
“What attracted me to The Big Exchange was the idea of helping to become “part of the solution” when it comes to investing in a manner that has a positive impact on the environment and on society. I believe that earning returns and having a positive impact go hand in hand and The Big Exchange’s efforts in enabling individuals to invest in this manner are commendable”.
Chris Ralph, the Chair of the Investment Committee explains the role of the committee:
“The Big Exchange Investment Committee aims to ensure that there is balance with the Impact Committee. While the Impact Committee looks at the impact methodology and ensuring funds are rated effectively for their positive contribution to be people and planet, the Investment Committee undertakes a more traditional investment analysis to ensure the investment managers are meeting their own performance and return objectives. "
"It is important to have this balance to ensure that the quality of funds available to investors is high and backs up the case that sustainable and impact funds, such as those made available on the Big Exchange, are not investments where you must necessarily sacrifice financial returns.”
